There used to be this hype of photojournalist type of documenting a wedding. It is a buzz 2 years ago and everyone one wants to catch on the bandwagon. However most of the work I see has a blend of traditional (posed) and shooting the wedding as it happens.
For me, I was so blessed to be 2nd shoot under a great mentor and friend and his work gave me a great insight into what photo-journal is all about. Its not so about shooting without any eye contact of your subjects or trying to trigger your shutter at every corner, but rather is to define a moment in time that holds significant to subject matter.
Still confused? Put in simply, the defining of moments, like my photography, I love to show viewers the thick of the action, the tip of a great expression or the point of the action.
However when we actual day photographers want to recreate the same style for pre-weddings, mostly we take a different role.
We direct and give instructions on creating the pictures, and aid the couples with their poses, for me giving them a scene to ponder and act.
